See through my lens

Everyone has a unique lens through which we view the world. My personal preference is a 50mm F/1.4. My goal as a photographer is to bring out the inner beauty of every person or thing I see. My passion for capturing these intimate moments in time started in high school, with my first film photography class. My love of photography has evolved by leaps and bounds ever since, and I continue to practice seeing things in a new light.

I typically shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III, however, my true love is film. To me, a film photograph is a perfect memory, whereas digital seems to try to hold still an exact impression of that moment. Maybe it’s the grain in the film, but those beautiful grains hold up better with time and seem to feel closer to my actual memory.

Below you will find my portrait work, concert photography, weddings, events family, and more. In addition, I have included my photo restoration work. Bringing old photographs to life again gives me great pleasure and joy.

Portraits

Inspired by artists such as Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Annie Lebovitz, Robert Capa, Dorothea Lange, Gregory Crewdson, and Steve McCurry; I try to capture both candid moments, as well as moments of true intimacy. I like to create a space in which people feel comfortable to be themselves and let their inner beauty shine.

Sensitive people faced with the prospect of a camera portrait put on a face they think is the one they would like to show to the world…Every so often what lies behind the facade is rare and more wonderful than the subject knows or dares to believe.

Concerts

Ever since I was little, I’ve had a deep love of music. Growing up, I always wanted to be involved in the music business, but unfortunately, I didn't have a musically talented bone in my body. When I was in high school, however, a lot of my friends were in bands, so I started taking pictures at their shows. The excitement of the music mixed with capturing those moments of utter passion, made me realize I could still be involved in the music scene, using my camera as an instrument to display the universal resonance that music leaves in the body.

Weddings

Just as concerts explore moments of passion, I find weddings exciting for the same reason. My job as a wedding photographer is to capture the love and true bliss that comes from finding that person you connect with most.

Film
